More than a month just passed, which means that I have been a ST for more than a month now. I start to like more and more the kids when each time I interact with them. They ar reali lovely and cute. I also start to adapt myself to the change of role from student to clinician. However, in terms of theoretical and practical knowledge, it is reali a long way to learn.
The clients in my centre are reali in low level, particularly the CP kids, their level is even not respond to sound consistently and have a lot of physical constraints. The most difficult and challenging task for me is the oral motor and swallowing assessment and treatment, I am reali blank on these aspects. Tomorrow is the start of assessment week, and I start to get nervious, so strange feeling, I am already a ST, there will be no more supervisor starting behind me all the time, but I still get nervious, it seems that both clinician and clients will be assessed in the coming week as well.
I remember as told by my supervisor in special school, who said that preschool training is very important for those kids. I reali know the importance of preschool training, but I am not very sure whether I can be such a good ST. Anyway, add oil to me and all other speechians!!!
